A Place of Separation

Exodus 8: 20-23. Say to him (Pharaoh), 'Thus says the LORD, "Let my people go, that they may serve me. If you will not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you. But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people dwell, so that no swarms of flies shall be there; that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth. Thus I will put a division between my people and your people."'

Exodus 9: 23-26. Then Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven; and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and fire_ Only in the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel were, there was no hail.

Exodus 10:21-23. Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt_ but all the people of Israel had light where they dwelt."

Goshen was a place in Egypt where God's chosen people lived. It represents a place of separation from the world system. It was a place of refuge for God's people who lived in Egypt (the world) but were not of the world.

Goshen was a kind of refuge for God's people. As Israel's children began to multiply, the Egyptians began to enslave them and use them for forced labor. There is something about living a separated life that is really given to Christ that makes you the target of unpopularity and occasional mockery. I know a dear sister in the Lord who is rumored to be gay by her coworkers because she refuses to date or participate the sexual side of office politics. She is waiting for the man God has for her. Righteousness has a price to pay. She is patient, trusting in God, knowing that His chosen man will be perfect for her.

When the judgments of God began to fall on Egypt and her idols, the people living in Goshen were kept safe. When Moses called forth a darkness so thick you could feel it, there was LIGHT in Goshen. God's people were spared many of the judgments. Why? Because they were living in a place of separation, a place of consecration unto God.

Does separation mean retreating from the world? No! Else how could we be salt and light? Separation is a heart issue. It is an internal standard that says whatever is going on around me, I will honor God in all things. Separation means we love the sinners without partaking in the sin. Separation means we go heart-first into the world with the Good News about Jesus but we do not live as if we were a part of its corruption.

God makes a real distinction between His people and people of the world who reject him. Living a separate life will mark you but will protect you, too. For instance, if you don't want sexually transmitted diseases, don't commit the sin. Living pure will protect you from the horrifying plagues that are even now sweeping the earth.

Holiness is a real refuge for God's people. In the verses quoted above, flies are a symbol of demons in scripture. Satan is called the Lord of the flies. God put a protective hedge around His people and wouldn't let the devils feast on those who were called by his name. In the Last Days when men's hearts are failing from fear, the people of God will walk securely trusting and resting in God. One day we shall sit in judgment of these fallen angels.

When the thunder, hail, and fire fell (speaking of divine judgments from Heaven), God's people were not affected. Why? Because we were already judged at Calvary! Our sins were taken away. I am convinced that if God's people had left the land of Goshen, they would have perished in the same judgments. By living in a place of separation from the world, they were kept safe.

2 Corinthians 6:17 Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you.

It is when we yield ourselves fully to Jesus and say, "Lord, not my will but yours," that we become a really useful person in this present world. By living by the standards (with the help of the indwelling Holy Spirit) of the world to come, we ironically enough become useful vessels in this lifetime of deliverance for those who are perishing without Christ.

The Egyptians were crying out to their gods when the judgments fell. Yet there was no deliverance because Psalms 4:3 says, "But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him." God hears the prayers of the righteous.

So is there a price to pay for living holy in an ungodly world? 2 Timothy 3:12 "Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted." That kind of persecution is a promise in the Word of God. You become set against the ebb and flow of the world and people think you're crazy. But there is an even greater price for not living a separated life. Just ask Lot's wife.

As God is judging this world, as economic turmoil sweeps through country after country who have worshipped mammon their god, as hurricanes wash away city after city, as sexual disease plagues continue to kill, as all of the idols of Egypt are judged and shown to be barren and powerless to save, God will protect His people - indeed He will prosper and bless - those who will live in a place of separation. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and that wisdom will keep you safe when there is no safe place to flee.

2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.

In the story of the judgments on Egypt, the greater story was the final deliverance of God's people into the Promised Land. One day our Lord Himself shall return with a shout and we shall ever be with Him! Until that day, live a life of separation from sin that is pleasing to the Lord. I saw commercial about using "protection" during immorality because it would minimize your chances of getting STD's. Don't participate in the sin and you will have perfect "protection."

Holiness rules!

The Prayer Line has been very busy, and the need for prayer has never been more important. We are depending upon you all to hold up our hands, as we keep up with the changing times, and the mounting needs of our World. Relationship problems seem to be at an all time high, and of course cancer is always at the top of the list in many requests. So we are entering a new phase of PRAYER in our lives, and we need the Holy Spirit's help more then ever to teach us how to pray as we ought.

PRAISE THE LORD, we have had a breakthrough this last month. We have had many set backs, Finally the BOOKSTORE IS UP. Also the Dream and Vision Page is up on the WORDS FOR WOMEN PAGE. We have posted many new messages, and are also posting News Bulletins we received from around the world. The Angel Postcard page is ready to go up, and that will be next. As we are advancing forward to take more for the KINGDOM OF GOD, the enemy continues to try and wear us down, and bring defeat. We need all the Prayer we can get to see things clearly, and know what the Lord is wanting us to do, or to wait on doing.

PLEASE SEND IN THOSE DREAMS AND VISIONS. Yes, let us know what your hearing from the Lord. We want to share with each other what the Spirit is saying to his Church. So take time get your thoughts together and make sure its from the Lord, and something he wants to speak to us, and send it in. We know the time is short now, and we need to be about our Father's business. So Pray we will know his timing for going FULL TIME in the MINISTRY.

THANK YOU JESUS, for sending us Arnel. He is our Tech support, and helps do many wonderful things on the site. Take time to pray for him, and that the Lord bless all the work of his hands.

PROPHETIC WORD

Manna Again?

Deuteronomy 8:3 "And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but that man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD."

I am writing more of a letter today than a teaching. As I was praying this morning, the Holy Spirit quickened to me that my country, the USA, is about to enter a time of national mourning. We are a country that has fed the nations and soon we shall need help feeding ourselves.

Jesus said, "Seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things (stuff we need to live) shall be added to you." We have long been a nation at ease but we are now the targets of terrorists and natural disaster and soon will find ourselves crying out to God for the basic necessities of life.

The good times are ending - but the glorious times are beginning!

God is bent on humbling this nation before the world to restore our national covenant with Him and again make us a nation who can say in a worshipful way In God We Trust. God wars against the proud but gives grace to the humble. When you see one man worshipping on a street corner while another curses and rages at God, you'll know the true state of each of their hearts before the Lord. God's blessing or cursing will become evident in the faces of all who live in this land. Don't despair - prepare! Many about who do not know God and will either be enraged at your faith and joy through the coming national trials, or their hearts will melt before Him by your example of patient suffering, worship in adversity, and abounding love for each other and they will come to faith in Christ. A few weeks ago, the Lord prompted me to purchase bicycles for my family (I don't have the money as yet but trust that I soon will) because transportation will become difficult in the coming days. The Lord will show you what to do and what not to do. Second guessing Him will cause you nothing but fear. Like the manna gathering of old, go to Him daily in prayer and meditation on His Word and He'll lead and guide you.

Manna is a picture of natural provision but it is also a picture of Jesus. Manna is called the grain of heaven and Jesus is called the Bread of Life. God is again calling this backslidden nation to repentance and faith.

We have no need to walk in fear - we walk by faith! There are tumultuous times headed to the USA and yet we can walk in peace and victory through the storms knowing that our God reigns!

Seek the Lord while He may be found.

Trusting in Him,
